So we have been going back and forth on whether or not to home school the kids and determined a few weeks ago that we would for sure start home schooling next fall but that we would let the two older boys decide on their own what they wanted to do for the rest of this school year.
Trey wanted to finish the year out because of how much he likes his teacher so we are going to let him finish it out. Trenton has gone back and forth about whether or not to stay at school or come home but was leaning towards finishing out the year with Trey. Tonight he was fairly certain he wanted to finish out at school so we kind of figured it was a done deal. Just to kind of get him accustomed to praying about things we had a discussion where I explained how God answers prayers and encouraged him to ask God what he wanted him to do. He headed downstairs and I didn't think much of it.
A few minutes later he came upstairs looking a little down and reported that Heavenly Father had answered his prayer and wanted him to do home school. Amber asked why he looked sad and Trenton responded that he was sad because he wanted to stay in public school but God told him he needed to do home school. I chatted with him for a minute or two and he confirmed those same thoughts. He confirmed that he would be OK because he knew he was doing what Heavenly Father asked him to do.
I was so proud of him that he would be willing to do something strictly out of obedience even though he really wanted the other choice. So grateful for this tender experience tonight to experience the joys of fatherhood and family and to see how loving God is and how he answers the personal prayers of a six year old. Grateful to know that he loves us so much! When you have an experience like this it truly confirms your faith that God is real!
